Cory Gregson has been placed on Geelong's long-term injury list.
The 20-year-old, who has played 29 AFL games including nine in 2016, has been troubled by a foot injury since July last year.
Gregson had surgery to remove a screw in his foot that was causing discomfort during January and remains on a rehabilitation program as he eyes a return to the field in the second half of the season.
He will remain on the Cats' long-term injury list for a minimum of eight weeks.
No player has been nominated to transfer from the club's rookie list to its primary list as a replacement for Gregson at this point in time.
