BRETT Deledio has flagged his interest in joining Geelong, but Steven Motlop will not be part of any deal that sends the star Tiger to the Cattery.
Richmond football talent manager Dan Richardson confirmed Deledio had spoken to the club about the possibility of leaving to join the Cats.
But the Tigers will not explore the option of trading for Geelong speedster Motlop.
"Steve's probably not a player we're interested in so we'll see where we go from there," Richardson said.
The Cats and Tigers held preliminary discussions about a deal involving Deledio at Etihad Stadium on Monday.
"Geelong has expressed their interest and we had some discussions today that didn't progress too far. It's the first days so there's a long way to go," Richardson said.
"We'll see how things pan out. Brett has expressed his interest in joining Geelong as well, but at this stage we won't be letting Brett Deledio go for nothing, that's for sure.
"Today's discussion was really Geelong expressing their interest, which was reasonably strong, and we'll go from there."
