GOLD Coast is officially facing an injury crisis with vice-captain Michael Rischitelli adding to a growing list with a subluxed shoulder.
The Suns fear the worst, after the veteran was brought down in a marking contest by North Melbourne skipper Andrew Swallow on Saturday night.
In a worst-case scenario, Rischitelli could miss the rest of the season, but the club will know more once all scans are returned and they can assess an appropriate course of rehabilitation.
Rischitelli's absence would be a hammer blow for Gold Coast, whose midfield is already crippled by injury.
Dion Prestia will not play against Geelong on Saturday night, missing his second straight match, this time with a shoulder niggle after suffering from illness last weekend.
Gold Coast is already without star onballers David Swallow (knee) and Jaeger O'Meara (knee).
Neither has played a game this year and both still have indefinite timeframes for a return.
The defence is also decimated, with Steven May still to serve four weeks of his suspension, and Adam Saad (hip) likely to join Rory Thompson (ankle) in the grandstand for the Cats match.
There's an element of bad luck for the Suns, with the new injuries all collision-related, but they could hardly come at a worse time for the club, fresh off successive losses and facing an in-form Geelong at Simonds Stadium.
The starting midfield is still solid, led by skipper Gary Ablett and containing Aaron Hall and Jesse Lonergan, but depth is now being tested.
Mature draftee Mackenzie Willis and rookie Darcy MacPherson have been impressive in the first month of the NEAFL competition and are right in line for call-ups to make their senior debuts.
