Geelong has decided to part ways with Mitch Clark.

The 29-year-old key forward, who joined the Cats in October 2014, played nine AFL games for the Cats over two seasons.

He previously played 82 games for the Brisbane Lions and 15 for Melbourne.

Clark was a regular in Geelong's AFL team during the first half of the 2015 season.

He kicked 14 goals in eight matches, including hauls of three against Hawthorn in round one, North Melbourne in round four and Carlton in round eight.

But he suffered calf injury in the round nine clash with West Coast in Perth and ended up spending the rest of the season on the sidelines.

Clark's only AFL appearance during the 2016 premiership season came in round 16 against the Sydney Swans.

Geelong’s general manager of football, Steve Hocking, wished Clark all the best in his future endeavours.

“Unfortunately Mitch suffered a number of injuries during his two years at Geelong and, as a result, wasn’t able to perform to his true capability," Hocking said.

“We thank Mitch for his time at the club and wish him and his family all the best for their future.”

Clark joins Josh Caddy, Shane Kersten, Billie Smedts, Nathan Vardy and rookies Zac Bates, Padraig Lucey, Jock Cornell, Cam Delaney and Tom Read as omissions from the Cats's 2016 list.
