Official AFL statisticians, Champion Data, think that Geelong will have the third most talented list in the AFL in 2015.
In the release of the 2015 Champion Data AFL prospectus, the Cats list of 46 for this season ranks just behind last year’s grand finalists Hawthorn and Sydney.
The stats gurus said the Cats currently have four elite players on their list in skipper Joel Selwood, Jimmy Bartel, Harry Taylor and Corey Enright.
Surprisingly though, key forward Tom Hawkins, who many consider to be the competition’s most dominant forward, was only ranked as above average.
Hawkins averaged more one-on-one contest wins inside 50 and contested marks than any other player in 2014.
The ratings take into account when a player outperforms their opposition player. The complex formula gave each side an average score with the Cats score of +0.67 behind Hawthorn’s +1.62 and Sydney’s +1.16. The top four was rounded out with Fremantle on +0.63.
