Steven Motlop
Missed the clash with Fremantle due to a club-imposed suspension. Is expected to come straight back into the team for Sunday's home game against Gold Coast.
Jimmy Bartel
Missed the loss to the Dockers due to concussion after copping a head knock right at the end of the round one defeat at the hands of the Hawthorn. All but certain to return to face Gold Coast.
Jared Rivers
Was a late withdrawal from the team that lost to Freo after suffering some knee soreness. Is expected to be right to line up against the Suns.
Jordan Murdoch
Named as an emergency for the AFL team in each of the first two rounds. Was unable to play in the VFL on both weekends as the VFL match was prior to the AFL game and the coaches wanted to keep him fresh in case he was required.
Sam Blease
Has been among the best players in the Cats' recent VFL practice matches against Footscray and Essendon. Right in contention to play his first AFL game for the club in Sunday's clash with Gold Coast.
Josh Walker
Has booted a total of 14 goals in past three VFL practice matches, thrusting himself firmly into contention for a recall to the AFL side.
Dean Gore
Became an emergency for the AFL clash with Fremantle after Jimmy Bartel was withdrawn from the squad. Didn't play at any level as a result. His previous VFL form has him in the box seat to be called up to bolster the midfield. Is only a teenager but has a powerful body and an ability to win plenty of his own ball at stoppages.
Shane Kersten
Has kicked a total of eight goals in the past two VFL practice games. The Cats need more goals, and Kersten has shown he can hold his own at the highest level in the past.
Jake Kolodjashnij
Has been among the best players in the past two VFL practice games. Was second-best on ground in Saturday's loss to Essendon at Tullamarine. Could be called up to bolster the backline.
Hamish McIntosh
Continues to all that is asked of him at VFL-level. Has been among the Cats' star performers in four VFL practice matches, so he will come under close consideration for an AFL recall this week.
Jackson Thurlow
Bouncing back to full fitness after missing a large part of the pre-season due to a lacerated kidney. Was among Geelong's best players in the VFL practice match against the Bombers.
