GEELONG has traded forward Josh Walker and midfielder Jarrad Jansen to Brisbane in return for the Lions' third round selection in the 2016 national draft.
"Both players are looking to play regularly at AFL level and they feel this is most likely to happen at Brisbane," Geelong’s general manager of football Steve Hocking said after the deal was announced on Monday afternoon.
"With the strengthening of our list in this period, and the Lions' desire to add Josh and Jarrad, it was a good outcome for all parties.
"We add another draft pick in next year’s draft, the players receive greater opportunity, and the Lions add players they feel can help them.
"Both Josh and Jarrad have been fine clubmen and have represented the club professionally during their time at Simonds Stadium.
"Hopefully they will be able to forge good careers and become regular players for the Lions.”
Walker played 33 games and kicked 35 goals for the Cats after originally being a rookie draft selection in 2011.
He debuted in round 16, 2012 against Collingwood and was also a member of Geelong’s 2012 VFL premiership team.
Jansen played once in the NAB Cup and was emergency on a number of occasions, but he could not break into the AFL team during his two seasons at the club.
He played 32 VFL games and was runner-up in Geelong’s 2015 VFL best and fairest.
