The comeback kid produced another impressive performance in the VFL team’s loss to Box Hill at Simonds Stadium on Saturday afternoon. He finished with 22 disposals, 10 clearances and three goals. As Chris Scott said after Saturday’s AFL loss to Hawthorn, Menzel could be seen at the highest level as soon as this weekend’s clash with St Kilda at Etihad Stadium.

Nathan Vardy
The big man is likely to spend another couple of weeks in the VFL, but he continued to push his case for an early elevation to the AFL side with a solid outing against Box Hill. He tallied 10 disposals, four marks and 18 hit-outs.

Dawson Simpson
The Cats’ coaches would love to take some of the pressure of Mark Blicavs, who has been shouldering most of the rucking load in the AFL, and Simpson keeps reminding them that he’s still around with some good performances in the VFL. He racked up 17 disposals, seven tackles and 41 hit-outs against Box Hill on Saturday.

Mitch Duncan
The star midfielder missed Saturday night’s loss to the Hawks after failing to recover from calf soreness. He will have to prove his fitness on the training track this week.

Tom Lonergan
After missing the game against Hawthorn due to illness, the gun defender is all but certain to return to the side to face the Saints on Saturday night.

Dean Gore
Pushed his case for an AFL debut by collecting a team-high 27 disposals in the VFL’s team’s loss to Box Hill.

Billie Smedts
Has done everything asked of him since being dropped back to the VFL after a mistake-prone outing against the Brisbane Lions in round 18. Finished Saturday’s clash against Box Hill with 26 disposals and six tackles, with the coaches particularly impressed with the pressure he was able to put on his opponents.
