West underwent the arthroscope to correct a discomfort with his knee.
Geelong Cats general manager of football, Neil Balme, said the procedure wouldn’t sideline West for an extended period of time.
“As the operation was very minor we fully expect Trent to be ready for round one of the season.” Balme said.
“By having the procedure now, Trent will hopefully be able to put the issue behind him before the season begins.”
West has played 41 games for the Cats since being drafted in 2005 including the 2011 premiership.
