RECENTLY inducted AFL legend Tony Lockett has labelled Cats star Steve Johnson as one of his favourite players.
In an interview with Triple M Footy on Saturday, Lockett said he didn’t watch many games these days.
But he added that the Cats had won him over with their brilliant style of play during their premiership years.
“That team was incredible to watch,” Lockett said. “They were fantastic, mate, and I used to watch them all the time.”
Lockett highlighted Jimmy Bartel, Gary Ablett Jnr and Cameron Mooney as players that he admired during those seasons at the top.
However, he singled out the man we know as Stevie J as his favourite.
“Mate, I love watching Stevie Johnson,” Lockett said. “I just think he’s a bit loose, and he’s good, you know.”

Lockett also put forward his thoughts on why goalkicking seems to be an area in which elite football has failed to improve since his time in the game.
“I’ve got my theories on it,” he said. “They do seem to miss goals that they should be kicking.
“Basically, what I think it really gets down to is a lot of these blokes have got too many things going on inside their head, instead of thinking about what they’re actually doing.
“I see them counting steps, I see them doing all these different things, when it really shouldn’t be rocket science.
“It should be just your natural kicking action. There’s no perfect kicking action, everyone’s different. I just think they’re over-trained with it.”
