Things to look forward to in the coming weeks …
1. JAMES KELLY BACK FROM THE DEAD
The three-time premiership player looked set for a long period on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury early in the Cats' win over Port Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval in round 11. In fact, one media outlet decided the injury was so serious (the outlet in question believed Kelly had injured his knee) that the 31-year-old's career was in jeopardy. But the wily veteran, who has a history of shaking off injury problems in good time, could return to the field as early as Sunday's clash with the Crows at Adelaide Oval.

2. SOME MORE STRAIGHT KICKING
The Cats' coaches have their share of issues to work through, but kicking for goal isn't one of them. Geelong is the most accurate team in the competition so far this season, with players like Tom Hawkins, who has booted 21.12, and Steve Johnson, who has kicked 16.8, leading the way.

3. PLENTY OF GAMES AT SIMONDS STADIUM
Senior coach Chris Scott admitted after the loss to Melbourne in round 12 that teams no longer fear coming to the Cattery. Evidence of this is the fact that the Cats have lost three of their four games at Simonds Stadium this season. But the team has the chance to set the record straight with a run of four matches at the Cattery in the final 10 rounds of the home and away season, including three in four weeks between rounds 16 and 19. If Geelong is to keep alive its record of having not missed the finals since 2006, it will need to win all of those games at home.

4. MORE MILESTONES
Some of the club's biggest names will – barring injuries – celebrate milestones during the remainder of the home and away season. Steve Johnson is just five games away from 250, while Joel Selwood is four away from 200. Jared Rivers is eight away from 200.
5. THE RETURN OF DANIEL MENZEL
We don't want to get too carried away about Menzel's form on the training track simply because we don't want to put the mozz on him. But it's fair to say the 23-year-old is making some very encouraging progress. If all goes to plan, he is likely to return to competitive action via the VFL in mid-July. Menzel has even stepped up to help out with our entries in the Gatorade Challenge and has proven to be something of a trick-shot specialist.
