GEELONG veteran Andrew Mackie has been withdrawn from Saturday's VFL game against Footscray, but the Cats are adamant the defender has not suffered a setback.
Mackie was named to play at the lower level as he continues his comeback from a lingering quad complaint, but was pulled from the squad on Friday morning.
The 30-year-old completed an intense training session with fellow injured Cats James Kelly, Daniel Menzel, Zac Bates and Dean Gore on Friday.
It was decided the club would hold him over another week to ensure he is at full fitness when he gets back out on the field.
Mackie has not played since injuring his quad in round two against Fremantle.
Cats fans not heading to Whitten Oval can watch the game live via a stream on the VFL website.
