DUAL premiership defender Josh Hunt will play for Greater Western Sydney next season after undergoing a medical with the club on Monday.

Giants football manager Graeme Allan confirmed the deal on AFL Gillette Trade Radio on Wednesday afternoon.

Securing Hunt meant the Giants have added two premiership players to its list on Wednesday, signing former Collingwood defender Heath Shaw hours earlier.

The 31-year-old former Cat is the latest of a string of players to be offered a lifeline by the League's youngest side, following the footsteps of Chad Cornes, Dean Brogan, Bret Thornton, James McDonald, Luke Power and Sentana O'hAilpin.

Allan initially suggested Hunt would be a good fit for the Giants before confirming the defender would play in orange and charcoal in 2014.

"You might be able to … yeah, you can lock him in," Allan said.

Hunt is unlikely to be the last experienced player the Giants will sign before the AFL Gillette Trade and Free Agency Period ends on Friday afternoon

At the start of the exchange period the club wanted to introduce five or six proven players to its young list.

Hunt is the fourth such player to join the Giants and Allan insisted another one or two would follow by the end of the week.

"Stephen's (Silvagni) working really hard at the moment … to try and do that," he said.

"I'm confident that we'll get another two or three (Hunt included) through the door by Friday."
