It has been a long pre-season for Mitch Duncan but finally round one has arrived with the Cats to take on the Giants on Saturday night.

Duncan returned to action in a VFL hit-out last Friday, four months after undergoing surgery.

“I am feeling confident in my body and as a team we are ready to go,” Duncan said.

“It has obviously been a bit of a different preparation in terms of knowing if I was going to play.”

The Cats face a tricky round one opponent and Duncan is expecting a physical affair.

“There a really good side, obviously they played in the grand final last year.”

“They’re going to come out really tough I would have thought.”

“They kind of started that in their finals campaign and it really worked for them, so we are expecting a fierce hit out - we cannot wait to get up there and face a really good opposition and test our system verses theirs.”

Duncan admits it is going to be a little different playing in front of no crowds.

“You can hear a lot more from the players and what they are saying.”

“We need to adapt to that quicker than the Giants can and create a lot of energy and buzz for ourselves which we try and to anyway – It will be a pretty high focus I would have thought.”

The first ball will be bounced at 7.40pm and the game will be televised on Seven.
