Chappy faces a conundrum
Paul Chapman admits he's frustrated with the position he's in after the review panel declared his act as reckless
GEELONG forward Paul Chapman has asked whether the game is getting softer, ahead of a deadline to decide whether to challenge the one-match ban offered to him by the Match Review Panel.
The veteran is set to miss Friday night's preliminary final for his hit on Port Adelaide's Robbie Gray in last weekend's semi-final.
He risks a two-match ban if he goes to the AFL Tribunal and loses.
"Just going to go in and talk about it now and see what our options are and whether it's worth doing it [challenging] or not," Chapman told AFL.com.au outside Simonds Stadium Tuesday morning.
"It's a big risk, so not too sure."
Chapman admitted he was "a little bit" frustrated with the match review process.
He described the risk of getting a tougher penalty as "a conundrum."
"They have their rules and I suppose I broke them, but, you know, is the game getting softer?
"These are the questions you sort of have to ask," he said.
"It is what it is, you can't change it and we'll go in and talk about it now."
Chapman left just minutes after arriving at the club.
An announcement on whether he will challenge the penalty will be made later on Tuesday.
