Speaking today at the launch of the Cats 24 hour Community Challenge, Geelong midfielder Patrick Dangerfield described the win over Port Adelaide as impressive and built off the back of solid defence.
Dangerfield was influential in the win with 28 disposals, eight inside 50s and a goal despite carrying a corked calf.
In what was a very physical game, the one incident to be heavily scrutinised was Lindsay Thomas’ bump on Scott Selwood.
Asked whether he likes seeing these incidents occur, the AFLPA President said it was very physical but also a part of the game that we play.
“You’re making decisions in a split second and at different stages you make poor decisions and say geez I wish I had my time again and I would have made a different one.”
“I’m sure if Lindsay had his time again he’d do things slightly different.
“Scott (Selwood) was up and running yesterday arvo and on the plane ride home and he’s feeling pretty good, so I expect him to play this week, but I’ll wait for Chrisso (Scott) and the guys to decide where that lies,” he said.
Moving onto this week’s game against Sydney, Dangerfield is expecting Sydney to come out firing after an indifferent performance against Adelaide.
“We will be expecting their best and they have played some really good footy against us in the past, so we need to make sure that we are playing at our absolute best and obviously, whenever Buddy is up and rolling, he is a very difficult player to stop.”
Dangerfield pointed out that Mark Blicavs is the ideal matchup for Buddy as he had the size and athleticism to go with him.
“He (Blicavs) is strutting around like he is better than Matthew Scarlett at the moment, so he is really happy with his game.”
Geelong currently fifth on the ladder with three wins and two losses.
