Senior coach Chris Scott is set to join an exclusive list when he coaches his 200^th game on Saturday night.

Scott will become the third Geelong coach to reach the milestone, joining Reg Hickey (304) and Mark Thompson (260) as the Cats’ longest serving coaches.

All three men have achieved the ultimate goal of a premiership with their respective teams, with Scott achieving the feat in his first season at the helm in 2011.

Despite achieving football’s ultimate prize early in his tenure with the Cats, Scott believes he has grown a lot as a coach.

“The one thing I’m certain of is that I’m much better at the job than I was when I started,” Scott said.

“I think I’m better this week than I was last week, and that’s my aspiration.”

While this week represents a major milestone, Scott has remained focused on what has become his biggest trademark, winning games.

“That’s my plan, to make it about the team, not too much about me and keep getting better every day,” he said.

“I have always been of the view that if you start looking back too much, you miss what is coming up.”

Scott has only missed the finals once while in charge, but what sets the current Cats coach apart is his winning percentage.

Scott has won almost 70% of games coached, more than any other current AFL coach and the most of anyone to have coached at least 100 senior games.

After his role in the Cats’ premiership-winning 2011 campaign, the accolades began rolling in for Scott, who was named as coach of the All-Australian side.

Scott was also chosen as head coach of Australia’s International Rules side in 2017, following two series as assistant coach of the representative team.

The former Brisbane defender hasn’t just brought a winning culture to the club, he has provided fans with a coach that is as entertaining as any in the competition.

Well-spoken off the field and passionate in the box, Scott has become a fixture in the AFL media landscape and his views are always held in high regard.

From the emotional response to Darren Milburn’s winning goal in his first game in charge, to the smile he couldn’t hide following Tom Stewart’s mark in his 199^th.

It has been a tenure filled with highlights both on and off the field and Scott will be hoping the emotional rollercoaster of success continues this season and beyond.
