1. CORY GREGSON'S FIRST AFL GOAL
(v Gold Coast, round three)
The little fella from South Australia is quickly becoming a favourite of the Cats' supporters. And the first goal of his AFL career - a 60m bomb towards the Gary Ablett Terrace end – was certainly one to remember. Gregson has played every game so far this season, which is a brilliant effort in his debut year. His performances have been so consistent that he wouldn't be far off a top-five place in the best and fairest at the moment.

2. TOM HAWKINS' TRIBUTE TO HIS LATE MUM
(v North Melbourne, round four)
The star forward missed the Cats' narrow win over the Suns in round three after the death of his mother, Jennifer. He then bravely returned to the field for the round four game against North Melbourne at Simonds Stadium. With his family watching on, Hawkins took a number of early marks and endeavoured to impose himself on the contest. He missed a couple of shots at goal before being hit lace-out by a pass from Steven Motlop midway through the third quarter. Hawkins went back and slotted the goal, then paid tribute to his mum by making a heart with his hands as his teammates rushed towards him. There was hardly a dry eye in the house.

3. JORDAN MURDOCH'S GOAL OF THE YEAR CONTENDER
(v Collingwood, round six)
The young Cat was featured in the round five edition of Mighty Monday thanks to his brilliant smother in the dying minutes against Richmond. And was back in the column after kicking a brilliant running goal in the 41-point win over Collingwood at the MCG in round six. Murdoch looked to have been sold into trouble by a wayward Steve Johnson handball, but he dodged and weaved around a couple of defenders before letting fly from 50m out. "That is the best goal he's ever kicked in the AFL," roared Channel 7's Bruce McAvaney. He was spot on.

4. CAMERON GUTHRIE SWAPPING HIS JUMPER WITH CHRIS JUDD
(v Carlton, round eight)
The sight of footballers swapping playing strips after matches is common in European soccer competitions, but it hasn’t been seen much in Aussie Rules since the post-Grand Final jumper swap tradition died out in the 1960s. In round eight, however, Cameron Guthrie did his bit to bring it back. In a surprise move, Guthrie swapped his guernsey with Carlton champion Chris Judd after the final siren. The reason: Judd was Guthrie’s idol as a kid and he was keen to add a Blues No. 5 guernsey to his ‘pool room’ collection. Guthrie got in just in time, as Judd's career ended only a few weeks later when the champion midfielder suffered a serious knee injury.

5. STEVEN MOTLOP'S SOCCER GOAL
(v Port Adelaide in round 11)
The speedy half-forward demonstrated his prodigious skill in the lead-up to the game against Port when he and Jackson Thurlow starred in an entry for a Gatorade Challenge (you can watch a video of Motlop's trick here). Motlop then repeated the dose with a brilliant soccer goal during the match itself. The play began midway through the first quarter when Port star Robbie Gray picked the ball up deep in Geelong's forward line and attempted to dish off a handball to his teammate Sam Colquhoun. Motlop's pressure forced the ball to bobble out of Gray's hands. Motlop then pounced and soccered the Sherrin out of mid-air and straight through the big sticks. It was an extraordinary piece of instinctive play.
