"I'm really confident in where we are," Selwood told Footy Classified on Channel Nine.
" We wouldn't get Hamish Mcintosh and Jared Rivers if we didn't think we could win it."
Selwood pointed to the success of the Cats young players in winning the VFL premiership last year and the hunger of the younger players to emulate the success of their senior team mates.
"We've had a group of under age players last year that won a VFL premiership when they shouldn't have," he said.
"They understand what winning games of footy is about which is important. They are really keen to be part of it.
"Mitch Duncan and Allen Christensen are the only players from that group of under 23 to experience it, to be part of (a premiership win)."
The Cats will field seven 2012 VFL premiership players in its NAB Cup side against Adelaide on Saturday.
