Given this has been a season of upsets, there were plenty of people whispering the fateful words "danger game" in the lead-up to Geelong's match against Carlton on Saturday night.

So Cats fans should be very proud of the way the boys went out and got the job done.

The final margin of 65 points brought with it a handy percentage boost, while a number of players worked their way into some very good form.

Tom Hawkins led the way, racking up a career-high 27 disposals and booting six goals.

Scott Selwood, who finished with 26 disposals and nine tackles, also played one of his best games since joining Geelong.

Patrick Dangerfield was among the best players yet again, although it remains to be seen whether he will find himself in any trouble after laying a heavy tackle on Matthew Kreuzer.

With just four rounds to go in the home and away season, the signs are good.

The Cats are sitting pretty in second place on the ladder, just one win behind the Adelaide Crows.

It is a great place to be, but there are some very tough assignments to come, starting with Friday night's blockbuster clash with the Sydney Swans at Simonds Stadium.
