The Geelong Cats together with the Cotton On Foundation are calling on the Geelong community to rally together and show their commitment to the city by joining in the inaugural March On Geelong, a major community rally this Saturday April 12.
March On Geelong will see community members rally together to celebrate all the great things Geelong has to offer, many of which have been forgotten in light of tough local economic times.
Victorian singer songwriter Dan Sultan will perform live at Steampacket Gardens from 4.30pm to kick off the event.
The march will leave the gardens at 5.30pm, concluding at Simonds Stadium approximately 6.15pm in time for the Cats’ round 4 match against the West Coast Eagles.
There will be plenty of activities for the kids taking place at Steampacket Gardens including; a jumping castle, face painting, loads of amazing giveaways and a Lions Club sausage sizzle. The first 5,000 participants to arrive at the gardens will also receive a free March On Geelong t-shirt and will go into a raffle to win a double pass to the game and access into the rooms afterwards, a signed Geelong Cats Guernsey, Cotton On gift cards and other prize packs.
MC Billy Brownless and guest speakers including; the City of Greater Geelong Mayor Darryn Lyons and former Cats president Frank Costa, will all be on hand to show their support for the Geelong community.
Once marchers arrive at Simonds Stadium they will be greeted with a live performance from local band ‘Where’s Joss?’ and hear from Geelong Cats players before the game starts at 7.40pm.
