Cats focus on Round 1
The Cats share their thoughts on tonight's battle against the Crows on Cats TV's new show Match Committee.
Round 1 the Cats will seek revenge after going down to the Crows by two-points last time they met.
Cats TV’s new show, Match Committee, asks the players what they believe needs to be done to shutdown their opponent.
As well as targeting top key players, Josh Caddy says the Crows ability to win clearances will be the Cats number one test on Thursday night.
“They’ve got a pretty diverse midfield and Dangerfield and Thompson are really good attacking players - but then they’ve got some pretty good defensive players too, like Rory Sloane,” Caddy said.
“They were way up on clearances throughout the NAB Challenge - so it’s going to be a really good challenge for us to try and come up against a good clearance side and try to beat them on the weekend.
The Cats defence force understand the extent of the battle they’re up against, however, Jared Rivers is confident the Cats have the talent to take them down.
“It’s another tough match up for us… and Podsy will be a really good feature and target for them deep into the 50,” Rivers said.
“Podsiadly, (Josh) Jenkins and (Shaun) McKernan might be the three talls, which is always going to be difficult to hold up.
“Then you’ve got Eddie Betts who’s a dangerous small forward as well.
“It will be a tough mix to handle but I think we have the right match-ups.”
Tonight’s Round 1 clash will kick off at 7:10pm at Simonds Stadium against the Adelaide Crows.
