Despite a flat ending to Saturday night’s blockbuster, three of Geelong's developing midfielders stood up and displayed performances that were fit for final’s footy.

All three midfielders finished on top of the stats sheet, Josh Caddy collected 26, whilst Mitch Duncan (37 touches) and Cameron Guthrie (33 touches) ripped up the field with career high performances.

After Saturday night’s display, Geelong veteran Tom Lonergan couldn’t be happier with how the young trio went about their duties against last year’s premiers.

“Caddy was great in the middle of the contest and Guthrie does a superb job,” Lonergan explained.

“We’re going to need them for the next three or four weeks to get us through and they’re critical to our team.”

With finals only a game away, the Cats have no choice but to iron out their creases in time for Saturday night’s home meeting with the Lions.

“We’ve got to concentrate on our game,” Lonergan said.

“We’ll have a look at the vision and have a look at what went wrong.

“I think it will be a really good learning tool for the whole team.

“We’ve got a lot of homework to do but that’s the great thing about footy you can always improve.”

This Saturday night  at 7:40pm, the Cats will battle the Lions for their last home game at Simonds Stadium.
