Sydney Swans’ senior coach, John Longmire, who led his club to a premiership after only two years, is feeling nervous about the Swans meeting on Friday night against the Cats at the SCG.

This week’s battle between the Cats and Swans will mean that one team’s winning streak will come to an end.

Longmire admires how Geelong continues to deliver and perpetuate success, year in and year out. He strongly believes they’re one of the toughest contests in the competition and their fighting perfomance over the last three rounds has demonstrated this.

“They are one of the biggest tests in footy and there are a lot of tests around,” Longmire told www.sydneyswans.com.au.

“There is a test every week when you play AFL footy, but Geelong, simply because of what they’ve been able to do over the past six or seven years, puts them right at the top of the tree.

“They continue to do it week in, week out and they’re never out of the game. It doesn’t matter what happens on the scoreboard they’re always playing for the final siren, which is a trait that we admire enormously.”

Last time the Cats met the Swans at the SCG they came back from 24 points down in the third quarter to miss out by only a goal.

Longmire knows the Cats will put up another ominous fight on Friday night, and he’s confident his players are ready for the battle.

“I think we’re heading in the right direction and we need to because there is hardly a bigger test in footy than Geelong footy club,” Longmire said.

“Last year’s game here at the SCG went down to the wire and was an absolute beauty and I expect that this week will be a similar type of game.”

Longmire is prepared for another close encounter at the SCG as two quality teams come head to head, when the Cats take on the Swans at 7:40pm Friday.

“I think it’s a pretty close call this week,” Longmire said.

“I think both teams have had their period of success over the last couple of years and Geelong continues to put some of the doubters at rest.
