Speaking to Cats TV after the Cats 21-point win over the Western Bulldogs, youngster Billie Smedts is happy to put the drama of last week behind him and move forward with his footy.

After a tough week, Smedts was glad his footy could do the talking.

“My aim for tonight was just to bring some pressure."

“Coming off last week’s game, I didn’t perform anywhere near what I would have liked to.

“After the week I’ve had I wanted to go out there and put some things behind me and just focus on playing footy and playing my team role tonight which I thought I did alright.”

“It was a strange week and the game couldn’t come around quick enough. I wanted to move on from what happened during the week, it was a strange experience.”

Smedts admitted losing Jared Rivers and Josh Caddy made for a tougher game but the pace and skill of Steven Motlop was inspiring.

“Mots had a great pre-season and it’s really starting to pay off for him, he’s moving really well and he’s finding himself up the ground."

“He’s running out the games really well because he’s got such a good fitness pace, he’s looking really lively.”

After a solid win, Smedts also said the team will look at both the positives of the night and the few things they can work on.

“We will highlight the positives because we need to keep working on what we’re doing well and we’ll look at the negatives and work on them to improve.”
