Geelong has five players named in the All Australian squad announced by the AFL. The Cats had the equal most of any club, with the Hawks, Sydney and Fremantle also having five players each named in the squad.

Joel Selwood, Corey Enright, Andrew Mackie, Steven Motlop and Harry Taylor have all been named for consideration in the final 22 player team that will be announced on 16 September.

Selwood was named All Australian in 2009 and 2010, and was also named in the 40 man squad in 2008, 2011 and 2012. With a brilliant 2013 campaign under his belt, Selwood is seen by most a certainty to be selected and will be among the favourites to be named as captain.

Enright is a four time All Australian (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011) and has been named in the 40 man squad for the sixth consecutive season.

Taylor has been named in the 40 player squad for the fourth straight season and was selected in the final team in 2010.

Both Motlop and Mackie will be seeking their first All Australian jumpers. This marks the first time Motlop has been named in the squad, while for Mackie it is his third time making the final 40.

Geelong has fielded an incredible 18 All Australian players over the past seven years, with Gary Ablett, Jimmy Bartel, Paul Chapman, Joel Corey, Matthew Egan, Enright, Tom Harley, Tom Hawkins, Steve Johnson, James Kelly, Steven King, Cameron Ling, Darren Milburn, Cameron Mooney, Brad Ottens, Matthew Scarlett, Selwood and Taylor all earning the honour during their careers.

In addition Tom Lonergan, Mackie and Motlop have been named in the 40 player squad over the past seven years.
