This week on Opposition Breakdown Harry Taylor decided to take a closer look at one of the leaders of Port Adelaide, Hamish Hartlett, before heading into Saturday’s battle at Simonds Stadium.

Taylor is convinced Hartlett has the skills and ability to upset the Cats if they don’t restrict his every move.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who hasn’t missed a game for Port Adelaide all season, averages highly in the clearances and has the strength to kick long.

“He’s a terrific clearance player averaging 3.1 clearances a game, which makes him number 2 at the footy club this season,” Taylor told Cats TV.

“He also has a very capable kick ranked fourth for long kicks at the club.”

Port Adelaide drafted Hartlett in 2008 at pick number four and his debut was one year later in Round 4 at the age of 18.

Taylor says it will be important for the Cats to negate his influences as much as possible, otherwise he’ll find a way to cause serious trouble in the middle, as well as Port’s forward line.

“At stoppage situations we can’t let him dictate his position and where he wants to go,” Taylor said.

“We’ll also have to get some body on him and try and force him into positions that he’s not comfortable with, because given time or space he can be a really damaging player.”
