With a Saturday night special against the Saints at Simonds Stadium this week, geelongcats.com.au look at those in the mix to come into the Cats line-up.

1. Mitch Brown
Brown continued his stellar VFL form combining with Jared Rivers to shut down Magpies big man Quentin Lynch. It was another scalp for Brown who has been the VFL’s premier full back this year.

12. Trent West
West continued his good form in the VFL winning hit outs and providing forward movement. With Dawson Simpson dominating for the Cats in the AFL side, West’s chance may come as a back up to Simpson with young gun Mark Blicavs shouldering a heavy load so far in his rookie season.

15. Jordan Schroder
Schroder put in a near best on ground performance for the VFL Cats on the weekend finishing with a ton of ball and four goals. Whilst positions for midfielder-forwards are at a premium in the Cats AFL side, Schroder has showed he can come in and make a difference.

19. Taylor Hunt
Hunt was a late withdrawal from the Cats team against Adelaide with an ankle injury despite making the trip. He's speed and shut down work will be required against the Saints with gun Jack Steven a potential match-up.

20. Steve Johnson
After missing the clash with Adelaide due to suspension, Johnson will be straight back into the Cats side this week. The Cats missed his centre clearance work on the weekend and freakish ability. Look for Johnson to redeem himself in the eyes of his teammates, club and fans.

25. Jared Rivers
Another game in the VFL for Rivers who has now completed two matches since overcoming his knee injury. VFL coach Matthew Knights said Rivers decision making in the second half was excellent. The Cats may choose to let him continue this good form in the VFL or bring him in to the AFL side for some game time.

28. Allen Christensen
Christensen tweeted that he was disappointed to not be on the trip to Adelaide but will be doing all he can to play against Saints this week. One of the Cats premier ball movers, Christensen will slot straight into Cats side when fit.

30. Nathan Vardy
Vardy showed Friday night why the Cats are desperate to get him into the AFL side. A huge mark on the wing (watch above) and a goal were the highlights for the big man who finally looks to have got his body right. Like West, Vardy’s position in the AFL side will be dependent on structure and form of the big men in the team.

33. George Horlin-Smith
Horlin-Smith was desperately unlucky to be omitted from the Cats AFL side last week. As he has done all season however he went back, put his head down and dominated in the VFL. With clearance work a concern for the Cats against the Crows, Horlin-Smith may get a chance to show his ability again.
