Cats TV caught up with James Kelly and Scott Gullan to discuss this week’s match up against Port Adelaide. Geelong hasn’t played at AAMI Stadium since 2008, where the Cats defeated Port Adelaide by 9 points.

Port Adelaide is going in with five wins and three loses. Kelly feels it will be another tough contest, especially as their senior coach, Ken Hinkley, has a good understanding of the way the Cats play, having been a former Geelong player and an assistant coach with Bomber Thompson.

“I think it’s going to be a really tight game, Ken Hinkley obviously knows a lot about us as a group and our game style from being here, but I think Port are always a really dangerous side because they can move the ball so well,” Kelly said.

Gullan thinks it’s evident that Port Adelaide has a hint of Geelong in their playing style, and in turn they have displayed more confidence as a team.

“I think he’s brought a bit of Geelong, as Kel said, he’s got people who can kick it in the back half and their happy to run and move it around, where as Port Adelaide last year was just stagnant and out of confidence,” Gullan said.

“Ken, as Kel knows, gets players feeling good and playing confident and that is what’s happening.”
