Cats TV caught up with James Kelly and Scott Gullan to discuss Geelong’s infamous slow starts, which the Cats couldn't overturn when they came up against Collingwood last week.

Kelly doesn’t see Geelong’s inability to play four quarters as an inconsistency issue. It is more about the opposition starting off hard and tiring out.

Either way, he believes it’s an area of their game that needs to be corrected pretty quickly.

“I think teams are coming after us pretty hard and we haven’t been 100% ready for that,” Kelly told Cats TV.

“I think our consistency throughout the game is staying the same… but other teams are starting higher than us and then dropping off and it looks like we’re lifting, but I think we’re just staying at a steady state.”

According to Gullan, Geelong’s playing strategy weighs heavier than any other team.

“I think it is more that the challenge arises and the champion responds,” Gullan said.
