Keep calm Saints
The Saints senior coach, Scott Watters, doesn't want his players to let the Cats control the show on Saturday night
St Kilda’s senior coach, Scott Watters, says his young team cannot afford to panic against a side like the Cats.
The Saints haven’t ventured down to Simonds Stadium since 2004 where the Cats just got over the line by seven points. A young Joel Corey made the most touches that day on 27 and Ben Graham wrapped it up with four goals.
This Saturday night Watters will make sure St Kilda, who have only celebrated three victories for the season, stick to their usual game plan and keep control of the ball.
“We will play our brand of footy; we can control our contest, we can control our pressure, we just need to be careful and composed with the footy,” Watters told www.saints.com.au
Watters says the team is looking forward to the challenge that come with playing against one of the better sides in the competition. In order to make the most of it he wants the Saints to keep it simple and to not lose sight of playing their own tactics. If they don't he can see them running into trouble like the other 13 teams this season.
“Any side that panics against Geelong plays into their hands, we’re very respectful of the opposition we play, they’re a terrific side but we’re looking forward for the opportunity to play them,” Watters said.
This weekend the Cats and Saints, along with clubs all over Victoria, will dedicate their Round to Casey Tutungi to help raise money for his future fund.
