Zac Smith is confident that having two weekends off in the space of a month won't hurt Geelong's premiership chances.
The Cats will have played just one game in 26 days by the time they front up against either the Sydney Swans or Adelaide in a preliminary final on Friday, September 23.
“I think having the bye last week and performing really well (against Hawthorn) showed that we can perform well off a bye and we’ll take confidence from that," Smith told News Limited.
“We’ll just get our bodies ready and train really hard over the next couple of weeks and we should really use that win to propel us into the prelim.”
Smith, who joined the Cats from Gold Coast during the 2015 player exchange period, is buzzing at the thought of taking part in a clash for a spot in a Grand Final.
“Twelve months ago I definitely wouldn’t have thought I could possibly be playing in a prelim, so I can’t really believe it," he said.
