The Geelong Cats are proud to announce Telstra as the official partner of community program, Cyber Cats.
With Telstra’s support, the club’s Cyber Cats program will have the opportunity to grow and enhance the delivery of its’ cyber safety message to young people.
Founded in 2012, Cyber Cats is a full-day program which empowers year 7 students to educate and support their peers regarding online bullying and general safety.
Cyber Cats will be delivered to close to 500 year 7 students across the Geelong region in 2018.
“Bullying remains a big issue affecting young Australians. Cyber bullying is a critical issue for both parents and families,” Telstra Area General Manager Loretta Willaton said.
“In any environment there is never a time or place for bullying. Partnerships like this are important to support the education of kids and teach them how to protect themselves and help others if they see cyber bullying happening.”
Geelong Cats General Manager of Community, Sarah Albon said the support of Telstra will go a long way.
“We are so pleased to have Telstra on board as the official partner of Cyber Cats, a program we are very proud of for the great message it sends to young people around cyber safety,” Albon said.
“The growth of online activity places young people at a far greater risk that in years gone by. The club is committed, through the Cyber Cats program, to ensuring young people are educated to make safe decisions when online.
“The club is excited to see the program go from strength to strength with Telstra’s support.”
Cyber Cats is delivered in partnership with headspace Geelong, Barwon Child, Youth & Family and Victoria Police.
