Cats coach Chris Scott expects Nakia Cockatoo to hit the ground running if he is included in the final team to play the Brisbane Lions on Sunday.

Cockatoo was named on Geelong's extended bench on Thursday evening, with the final team to be named on Friday evening.

"He had a really good pre-season, played all three NAB [Challenge] games," Scott said on the round three episode of Tweet The Coach.

"And he has been suspended, which means his training hasn't been impacted at all.

"In fact, he's got a lot more in than the rest of the players."

Scott has flagged plenty of AFL action for Cockatoo this season.

"What we are sure of is that he's a part of our long-term plan and AFL opportunities are going to be really important to him," he said.
