With just one more sleep to go before the 2020 AFL Grand Final, Cats fans everywhere have answered the call to show their colours and get behind the boys as they prepare to face the Tigers in tomorrow night’s showdown.
Our banners really are flying high from dawn to dusk, and not just in the heartland, but up the highway, and across state borders. Border closures have not been enough to keep the blue and white passion locked down in Victoria.
It started with scarf here, a beanie there, before growing into something else entirely. Around town, full houses have been repainted and rebadged in the hoops, GMHBA Stadium and City of Greater Geelong Town Hall have been lit up in the only colours that matter this weekend.
We’ve seen dashingly dressed dogs in Newtown, oversized Gary Ablett Jr posters hanging off balconies in Dandenong North, and kitted up kids from Aberfeldie to Coffs Harbour, and all the way up to a little place called Wooloongabba.
But where it gets really impressive is that this is not only happening at home, but far, far away too.
From Canada to the Netherlands, from Ireland to Indonesia, from the UK to Dubai and the Austrian Alps (really) and all the way to San Francisco Bay, Cats fans have been out in force and playing their part in the biggest day of the year.
