Tom Lonergan has been recognised by the coaches for his great performance on Essendon's Joe Daniher in Saturday's win over the Bombers at the MCG.

Lonergan was awarded six votes in the AFL Coaches' Association Player of the Year award for his effort.

Patrick Dangerfield, Steven Motlop and Mitch Duncan were the other Cats player to feature in the voting.
