THE INJURY curse on Geelong's high half-forwards has continued, with scans showing Darcy Lang fractured his fibula against Fremantle in round 14.

The 21-year-old was thought to have aggravated a shin injury however further scans revealed a crack in the fibula.

Cats physiotherapist Mark Young told the Geelong website the recovery period remained unclear, but Lang would not be available for a few weeks.

"That is going to slow him down a bit," Young said.  

Lang had acquitted himself well in recent weeks as a high half-forward before Dockers' midfielder Lachie Neale accidentally contacted his shin when attempting to kick the ball.

He had slotted into that role with Lincoln McCarthy, Brandan Parfitt, Cory Gregson and Nakia Cockatoo all suffering injuries this season.

Lang is out of contract at season's end but has played 42 games in his four seasons at the club and continues to develop.

Scott Selwood is not expected to play this weekend while Cockatoo faces a test. 

In better news, defender Tom Stewart has recovered well from an operation to repair a fractured eye socket and is back running.

The Cats are hopeful he will return sooner than originally anticipated.
