Gold Coast Suns injury list doesn’t look to be depleting anytime soon, with five definite players sidelined for Saturday’s night battle against the Cats.

The Suns will enter the newly lit up stage at Simonds Stadium without a number of quality players, including Jared Brennan, Jesse Lonergan, Zac Smith, Seb Tape and Matthew Warnock.

Steven May also looks to be out this week, after suffering from a cork during the Suns close loss against Hawthorn last weekend.

However, the Suns football manager, Marcus Ashcroft, is hoping to welcome back former rugby league and union athlete, Karmichael Hunt, along with all-rounder, Harley Bennell, into the side on Saturday night.

"Harley is a good chance, he just needs to run today," Ashcroft told News Limited.

Although, Ashcroft is less confident about Charlie Dixon being available for this week’s clash.

"Charlie might play but he is less likely, he's probably 50-50 at best."

Despite the Sun’s extensive injury list, Dion Prestia feels optimistic about Saturday night, after their impressive performance against the Hawks last weekend.

"… we know we can challenge them now," Prestia told www.goldcoastfc.com.au

The young midfielder is confident the Suns have the ability and expertise to execute the same tricks in front of the Cats.

"We'll have a lot more confidence going into Geelong knowing we can probably match it with the best teams," Prestia said.

"We got a bit of confidence the last two weeks, beating Melbourne and the Bulldogs, so we're winning the games we should win, and challenging Hawthorn who are probably the best team in the comp at the moment … it's just about backing it up now.”
