Heading into a huge top-of-the-table clash against Collingwood to finish the home and away season, VFLW Bendigo Bank Cats captain Michelle Fedele gives her insights ahead of the game.

Highlight of the week:

Just getting back out there in the match-day build-up and routine after four seemingly endless weeks was something special. What local footy brings to us, and the way the team is building – and getting the four points over the Hawks in a really even game – was just the icing on the cake.

What are you looking forward to about Saturday’s game:

It’s a top-of-the-table clash with Collingwood. We lost by two points in the opening round, so it’s kind of fitting that we play them again in the final round of the regular season to see how far we’ve come as a team.

How the Cats can beat Collingwood:

Both sides are pretty even on field, I’d say. We’ve got the talent and the drive to be competitive with the top teams, so I think it will be crucial for us to have the right mindset going into the game: focussed, confident in our ability and our teammates, and resilient.

The Cats player to watch:

Laura Gardiner, she’s had a terrific season thus far. She just accumulates possessions week in, week out due to her work-rate around the contest. I don’t think this will be on the contrary this week at all; I’d imagine another big performance for her, particularly against such strong opposition.

A message to the team:

Just to be 100 per cent focussed, 100 per cent committed. These are the two elements to achieve our goals.
