We’ve seen some great performances from a whole mob of Bendigo Bank VFL Cats players this year.
It’s time to take a look at who’s racking up the numbers where it matters most.
Disposals & Clearances
It’s not like it’ll be hard to guess who’s at the top of the tree in this department.
Charlie Constable, in his eight games playing for the Bankers, is averaging just shy of 33 touches a game at 32.9.
His latest 40+ performances have helped that average along, but there’s no question he loves to get his hands on the pill.
Among those 84 disposals in the past two games, he had 23 clearances, bringing his season average to 7.8.
Hitouts
Darcy Fort and Rhys Stanley are naturally leading the group with 18.5 and 20 hitouts respectively.
What makes these two ruckmen so prolific though is their ball winning ability.
Fort and Stanley are getting the footy so much that they’re the only two players in the VFL averaging 18+ disposals, 18+ hitouts and 5+ clearances.
With numbers like that it’s no wonder Geelong have been so good at winning stoppages this season.
Tackles
Stefan Okunbor has been a tackling machine for the Bankers, averaging 6.9 for the year.
Jordan Clark sits second under Okunbor with an average of 6.3 tackles from four games.
Fellow staples of the squad Oscar Brownless and Darcy Lang are averaging 4.1 per game.
Marks
The style in which Geelong plays naturally produces a large amount of marks.
Veteran defenders like Jackson Thurlow, Aaron Black and Oliver Tate all sit within the top three for total marks.
Meanwhile, Zach Guthrie and Nathan Kreuger have shown off their ability to get to the right spots both with the ball coming inside 50 and when the group needs a marking option.
From his two games played, Kreuger averaged eight marks - plenty of which were intercepts.
Guthrie, from three games, has averaged 7.7 and showed against Essendon that he’s capable of peeling off defenders Tom Stewart-style for an intercept mark.
Goals
We all know how strong Josh Jenkins has been this season with 23 goals from seven games.
Although, in our biggest wins, goals have come from everywhere.
There are 13 players averaging one or more goals per game, showing just how balanced and team-focussed this squad is.
Currently sitting 5th, Geelong will face Williamstown this weekend due to a change in fixture.
The match kicks off Saturday at 12pm in Williamstown.
