What a game it was on Friday night! Is your heartrate back to normal yet?
The rivalry between Geelong and Hawthorn was already the greatest of the past two decades, and it has become even greater thanks to what was a remarkable qualifying final, in which Isaac Smith missed a chance to win the game for the Hawks after the final siren.
The Cats are now preparing for a preliminary final against either the Sydney Swans or Adelaide, a game that will be played on Friday, September 23 at the MCG.
But before we start worrying too much about the clash that will decide one of the Grand Finalists, we want to revel a bit more in the win over the Hawks.
There were many heroes for Geelong.
Superstar midfielders Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield were enormous in the middle of the ground, as was Sam Menegola, whose already inspiring football story just keeps getting better.
Cameron Guthrie produced a performance for the ages after being moved into the midfield, while Mark Blicavs was another star peformer in the second half.
The backmen held their own all night, with Harry Taylor, Tom Lonergan and Corey Enright all making key contributions in the frantic finish.
Up forward, Tom Hawkins took a couple of trademark grabs, while Lincoln McCarthy helped spark the Cats with two key goals.
Then there was Josh Caddy, who pushed forward and booted what proved to be the winning goal after receiving a great pass from Taylor.
So it was a night for the ages, and it was all played out in front of 87,533 people, which was the largest crowd to watch a Cats game since the 2011 Grand Final.
Now we want to get your thoughts on the key players.
