The Cats selected Calder Cannons star midfielder Georgie Prespakis with the first pick in the Victorian pool – and number 2 overall – in the 2021 NAB AFLW Draft on Tuesday night.
Prespakis – younger sister of Carlton player and 2020 AFLW Best and Fairest Maddy Prespakis – is a tenacious inside midfielder with neat skills, and will be a welcome addition to the Cats’ emerging midfield group.

Elite around stoppages and a strong clearance player, the AFLW Academy Member has a natural ability to find the footy, and great game sense.
Prespakis won the NAB League best and fairest as a 16-year-old in 2019, and has represented Vic Metro at the national championships, as well as lining up for Essendon’s VFLW team this season, playing four games, including two finals.
The 168cm midfielder was the first of four Cats’ selections in the opening round of the draft.
