GEELONG has added experienced ruckman Jonathon Ceglar after completing a trade with Hawthorn on the final day of the 2021 Continental Tyres AFL Trade Period.

Ceglar joins the Cats on a two-year deal after playing 101 games for the Hawks and kicking 43 goals.

Geelong was able to complete the Ceglar trade after an earlier exchange saw the Cats trade Darcy Fort and selection 41 to Brisbane for pick 50 and a 2022 third round selection.

The Cats then sent the 2022 third round selection to Hawthorn for Ceglar and a future fourth round pick.

"It is a great get for us," Geelong's recruiting and list manager Stephen Wells said.

"We weren't going to let Darcy go without bringing in another quality experienced ruckman and when Jonathan became available we were keen to pursue that."

"We've got a couple of really experienced ruckman now in Rhys Stanley and Jonathan Ceglar, Esava Ratugolea of course and then a group of developing young ruckmen as well that might also get their opportunity."
