Geelong’s AFLW team will play Richmond in a practice match this Saturday 18 December at 2.00pm at the Swinburne Centre.
It will be the Cats' only practice match against another club prior to AFLW Season 6 starting.
It will also be the first time the group has played against an opposition since the inclusion of nine new recruits, including number two draft pick Georgie Prespakis and former Adelaide Crows premiership player Chloe Scheer.
Unfortunately spectators aren’t able to attend as the event is closed to the general public.
New senior coach Dan Lowther said the match will be a great opportunity for players to showcase their talents for selection in Round 1.
“The past three or four weeks we have been building our match simulation up to the point where we are now ready for this practice game,” said Lowther.
“It’s been a lot of match simulation, making sure our structures are correct and making sure that we’re clear on our game style.
“The players that can act on our game style are the players that we want to push forward and push into our selection.”
Fans can follow @catswomens on Instagram and Twitter for live updates across the afternoon.
Season 6 of the AFLW competition will kick off in early January. Geelong will play North Melbourne in Round 1 on Saturday 8 January at Arden Street at 5.10pm.
