Come round six, when the Cats take on Richmond at the MCG, Geelong Veteran, Corey Enright, will put on the blue and white hoops for the 250th time in his AFL career.

The tactful defender debuted in 2001 after being selected by Geelong as the 47th draft pick, back in 1999.

Argue the Toss on Cats TV asked Andrew Mackie, and journalist, Scott Gullan, if they thought Enright was showing any signs of coming to the end of his career.

In relation to Enright's recent performance, averaging 21 possessions over the last three games, Mackie doesn't believe it's time for Enright to return his boots just yet, and continues to ragard him as a significant asset to the team.

“That is a good question, there is no sign of it,” Mackie said.

“His mind is as quick as ever, and his body is still going strong and he’s a smart footballer just doing what we’ve become accustom to…”

“I’m glad he’s on our side and no one else’s and I love playing with him, so hopefully he can keep going for a while yet.”

Mackie sees numerous factors contributing to Enright’s ongoing success, the main one being his fitness and looking after his health.

“A number of things, he’s a smart player, he’s fit, he works hard on his fitness, he looks after himself and that’s a pretty good recipe for staying out in the park,” Mackie explained.

Despite Enright’s slow and less glamorous introduction to football, Gullan touches on his reoccurring success and declares that he has turned into the ultimate defender who continues to deliver. At this point he believes it is clear that he hasn’t come to the end just yet.

“For a while he was underrated and then he had three or four all-Australians in a row,” Gullan said.

“He is just the ultimate back pocket half back flanker…”

“It’s ironic too, in his early career his body let him down, it took him three or four years to actually get into the side and get rolling. Now, I thought with Matthew Scarlet, his best mate going he might lose a little bit of interest and lose a bit of edge, but that clearly hasn’t happened.”
