Geelong Cats are thrilled to announce an AFL Women’s membership record for the Club, with nearly 6,000 members joining the Cats for their Season 7 journey.
After breaking the club’s AFLW membership record in the earlier season this year, Cats supporters followed up with a strong showing for the second AFLW season, with 5,938 members signing up.
The 60.7 per cent increase on the Cats’ Season 6 record is reflective of the growing investment from fans in Geelong’s AFLW team.
Geelong had the largest membership base of any Victorian AFLW team this season, and the third largest in the entire competition.
Geelong Cats Chief Executive Steve Hocking thanked Cats members for their support in Season 7.
“Our AFLW program players and staff have been working hard to build an exciting and successful brand of football, and it is wonderful to see so many fans supporting our program by joining as members,” Hocking said.
“There’s no doubt that the show of faith from our members resonates with our team, and you can see it in the two record-breaking performances our AFLW team produced in front of a vocal home crowd at GMHBA Stadium this season.
“The support and pride extended to our team is significant, and has helped our players unlock excellence as they continue to grow as footballers.
“To all our members, we say thank you for your incredible support. We’ve all enjoyed a wonderful Season 7, and we can’t wait to see you all again in 2023.”
