After an ascension that had to be seen to be believed last year, Lawson Humphries is ready to take his game to another level in 2025.

Starting his first season in the VFL, a dominant stretch of games earned Humphries an AFL debut and there was no looking back, the youngster playing and starring in the Cats last 11 matches of the season.

Already gaining external recognition, Humphries was selected in the Indigenous All Stars squad which will take on Fremantle at Optus Stadium next Saturday.

Honoured to be included alongside some of the AFL's top Indigenous talent, Humphries said he is excited for the opportunity that awaits him next weekend.

"I am super excited, it is a good opportunity and something that hasn't happened for a few years," Humphries said.

"I am really grateful for the timing, I am lucky that i have only been in the competition for a year and get to play in it.

"It is a very exciting occasion, playing with some really good footballers.

"It should be a good time, going back home to Western Australia is also nice and getting to play an early game is good."

Following the Indigenous All Stars match, Humphries and the Cats will be back in action for their first hit-out of 2025, taking on Hawthorn in a match simulation on the 17th of February.

Geelong's pre-season will continue to ramp up with their official AAMI Community Series match on the 25th of February, before the team makes final preparations for their Opening Round clash against Brisbane.

This week was a chance for the Cats to get out to places like Torquay and Colac, with players and coaches participating in the club's community camp.

Humphries said it was a great opportunity to give back to the community, showing how much the club appreciates their support each and every year.

"We were out in Torquay yesterday, it is nice to be out in the community," Humphries said.

"Being from Western Australia, not seeing a lot of these towns it is really cool to come and see the people. It is a different part of the world which is really cool.

"Also nice to know that we have that support in the regional areas, it means a lot to us on game days when they come. It is nice for us to come out and show that we appreciate their support.

"It is epic to have so many people here, the kids love it which is good and we enjoy that."
