Geelong captain Patrick Dangerfield says the mood around the group remains high despite the club’s uncharacteristically slow start to the season and he’s confident they will continue to get better each week.
The Cats go into the traditional Easter Monday clash with Hawthorn coming off three straight losses, but though he shares the supporters’ disappointment, the skipper said the club can turn the season around quickly.
“I know our supporters will be disappointed with the start, we certainly are, but we're not going to wallow, we won't splinter, we've got things we can improve on," he told K rock Football post game on Sunday.
“We've addressed those over the last few weeks - they haven't all come to fruition, and we haven't, as much we'd love to, clicked our fingers and clicked into gear, but I feel like we're starting to turn things the way that we want them.”
The return of Tom Stewart (30 disposals, 13 marks, 563 metres gained), the continued good form of new Dad Jeremy Cameron (3 goals, eight marks, 15 disposals) were highlights for the visiting team, while Dangerfield (19 disposals, one goal), was also influential.
The Cats captain, who is also number one in the League for centre clearances, said a combination of hard work and unity will see an uptick in performance.
“There's just still a fair bit that we can improve on but we're going to get better each week, we're going to stick together, and we'll do it the Geelong way.”
