Geelong has today broken its all-time membership record surpassing last season’s figure of 71,943.

As the club approaches the midpoint of the 2023 AFL men’s season, the membership tally sits at 73,667, a new record.

The Cats CEO in a message to members wanted to thank each person who had purchased a membership this year.

“We've pushed through the 73,000 barrier as far as membership goes, so it's a new record for the club. We’re just incredibly excited by that,” Hocking said.

“We're pushing on toward 80, we'd love an eight in front of it, so 80,000. It's really important we get there because it keeps pace with the bigger clubs in the competition which is who we want to be.

“But thank you so much to all of the 73,000 members who that have purchased.”

Hocking said the club’s ultimate goal is to reach 100,000 total members by 2025, but also encouraged everyone to consider supporting the AFLW program as well, something that he said is especially important to the football club more broadly.

“Can I encourage all of you that have purchased to be thinking about purchasing an AFLW membership?” he said.

“It is critically important of the 73,000 memberships sold so far, we've got roughly about five and a half thousand that have purchased AFLW additional, and it's incredibly important for us as a club to be number one in AFLW memberships. So, if you can circle back around, we would appreciate it greatly. We want and would love to push toward AFLW 10,000 members this year and that would put us in elite company.

“Let's keep working together to build this number. We want to get to 80,000 in 2023, by 2025 we're looking to land 100,000.”
