Skipper takes the lead
Senior coaches award the Cats skipper with the most votes, after Saturday's clash at Skoda Stadium
Last Saturday’s 59 point win against the Giants saw Geelong’s skipper take his role to the next level, where he pushed his teammates back into the contest.
Joel Selwood picked up the pieces when the Cats lacked drive in the first three quarters, with 29 disposals at 89.7% efficiency, including two goals, 12 contested possessions and seven tackles.
Both senior coaches, Chris Scott and Kevin Sheedy, gave Selwood the top 10 votes for his dominating groundwork.
Selwood now has the highest number of votes for Geelong in the AFL Coaches Association vote count, sitting on a total of 33 votes.
Scott and Sheedy also awarded Allen Christensen with seven votes, and Josh Hunt and Mathew Stokes with two.
